One Unforgettable Weekend Under the Texas Stars
There are weekends, and then there are the ones you carry with you for the rest of your life. This month, Flint & Flowers had the joy of hosting one of those. A guest reserved the entire campground to mark her 40th birthday - every tent, every trail, every quiet corner of the property given over to a single circle of friends and family. They came from near and far, some driving in from across Texas and others traveling farther still, all arriving with the same intention: to be fully present with one another. From the moment the first car rolled up the gravel drive, the property came alive. Days were spent lingering over long, shared meals and wandering beneath the live oaks.
Afternoons melted into evenings around the fire, and evenings stretched into those late-night conversations that only happen once everyone has finally, truly slowed down. There were toasts and there was laughter - the kind that carries across the hills - along with more than a few moments of the comfortable quiet that comes from being surrounded by the people who know you best. By day, the weekend found its own gentle rhythm. Some drifted toward the Nordic-style tubs with a cold drink in hand; others claimed a private covered deck beneath the oaks or wandered the trails in twos and threes, catching up on all the years between visits. Meals became the heartbeat of it all - long tables set beneath the string lights, plates passed from hand to hand, and the kind of storytelling that begins with "do you remember" and doesn't end until the last karaoke song is sung.
And there were s’mores, of course. As the fire crackled and the first stars found their places overhead, friends raised their glasses to forty years of the woman at the center of it all - and to the friendships that had carried them here from every corner of their lives. It was the sort of moment none of them will soon forget. Neither will we. Seeing every tent filled by one joyful group was a reminder of what this place is really for. Flint & Flowers has always been more than somewhere to rest your head.
